Fellow Members of St. Andrew's,
Over the past several weeks, the Vestry has been working with the Bishop to fill the Rector role at St. Andrew's. We prayerfully considered several different options and discussed what would be best for the church in both the short and long term. At the conclusion of the dialog, we offered Fr. Andrew Van Kirk the role of Priest-in-Charge, which includes the functional roles and responsibilities of Rector.
We are extremely blessed and excited that he has accepted this position!
You might be wondering what a Priest-in-Charge title means (we did too). Since it is very unusual for an Associate Rector to be placed as a Rector of the church, the Bishop wanted to leave an option for both Fr. Andrew and the church to opt out if the job was not a good fit at the end of an option period of 2 years (we have also posted a more in-depth explanation of "Priest-in-Charge" on our website). The good news is that everyone involved at the church and in the diocese is very excited about this opportunity and can't wait to see the wonderful work at St. Andrew's continue.
So be sure to congratulate Fr. Andrew when you see him and if you have any questions, please find one of the Vestry members and we will do our best to find an answer.
Thanks and congratulations to Andrew!
Ned Searles, Senior Warden & The St. Andrew's Vestry
