The Rev. Andrew Van Kirk serves as Priest-in-Charge of St. Andrew's. He joined the staff as the Associate Rector in the fall of 2013, and he was named Priest-in-Charge in August 2017. Prior to coming to St. Andrew’s, he served as the Associate Rector at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Dallas. Father Andrew grew up in Dallas before attending Duke University (B.A. History and Computer Science) and Princeton Theological Seminary (MDiv, ThM – New Testament). In between institutions of higher education, he briefly wrote software for Amazon.com.

At a diocesan level Fr. Andrew serves as an instructor at the Stanton Center and is on the Board of Examining Chaplains. He and his wife Stephanie, who also has an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary, have three young children, Henry, Addie and Drew.

Deacon Pam Fairley



The Rev. Pamela Fairley serves as Deacon at St. Andrew’s.  Pam and her husband Forrest have been members at St. Andrew’s since 2006 when they moved to McKinney from Cincinnati, Ohio.  She is a graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati, where she earned her BSN.  Perceiving a call to the Diaconate she attended The Stanton Center for Ministry Formation, receiving her Diploma in Ministry in May, 2017 and was ordained as a Deacon of the Church in June 2017.  When not otherwise engaged in her hobby as a professional student, Pam has been employed in her first calling as a Registered Nurse.

Benton Berghuis

Youth Minister


Benton has served as youth minister in Toms Ferry, Virginia for several years, but comes to us most recently from Duke Divinity School, where he graduated in May (as you can see in the picture) with a Masters of Divinity, concentrating in Christian Education. Benton's calling is to vocational youth ministry, and he comes highly recommended by his supervisors at Duke, both for youth ministry and for his curriculum and program development skills. Benton has recently relocated to the metroplex, and we're thrilled to have him pick up the work of building our youth program.

Stephanie Van Kirk

Children and Family Minister


Stephanie heads up our Children and Family Ministry program. She's a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, where she completed a Masters of Divinity with a focus in Christian Education. She's also served as a children's minister and as a youth minister at Ascension in Dallas. Stephanie will be responsible for overseeing Sunday morning and all the volunteers, the nursery workers, Safe Church training, and pastoral care with kids and parents. Beyond that, she's going to work on expanding our children's program to include more outreach opportunities, full-family experiences, play dates, and seasonal classes and curriculum.

Lauren Hodum

Associate Minister for Children's Programming


Lauren's primary responsibilities are to assist with Children's ministry on Sunday morning, and then plan and lead our major children's programs that take place over the course of the year, things like VBS, Christmas Pageants, Advent Family Night. Lauren is a full-time high-school teacher; she's wonderful with kids and parents, has strong organizational and planning skills, and a calling to help minister to our little ones. She's married to David, and they have two kids, William and Eleanor.

Dana Jean

Hand and Feet Outreach Ministry


Dana Jean is building the Hands & Feet social transformation and outreach ministry at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in McKinney, Texas. Initiating such projects as the BlessMobile, she has developed programs to partner with community partner organizations through the ministry.

Dana has spent much of her life working in the education field, teaching and leading nonprofits whose focus was educational in nature. Dana and her husband and three children came to Dallas in 2011 where Dana served as Executive Director of ULC, a nonprofit providing libraries in Haiti.

Laurie Gabriel

Music Director


Laurie Gabriel is a Texas transplant, having come to McKinney from Colorado Springs, CO, where she was the Director of Music Ministries at St. Paul’s Methodist Church for over six years. She has served in church music roles most of her life. Her mother was a church organist, and Laurie remembers playing on the organ pedals as a toddler.  Having received Summa Cum Laude degrees in voice and cello from the University of Denver, Laurie was also a choir and orchestra teacher in the public schools for 27 years. Her busy, professional musical life is augmented by television and radio commercials for which she and her Texas-native husband, Ethan, provide the voices.  Laurie is passionate about using her knowledge of music to help others find ways to praise God with their talents.

Cynthia Burns



Cynthia served as Music Director at St. Andrew’s since 2005. Previously, she taught classroom music in the Richardson and Plano school districts, and private piano and voice. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education (Choral) degree from Baylor University and a Kodaly certification. She has over 20 years experience as an accompanist and choir director. The child of a minister, growing up Cynthia was always playing the piano at nursing homes, church services, and summer revivals. She feels the Lord called her into the music ministry, and considers herself blessed to serve at St. Andrew’s.

Paul Thompson



Paul Thompson is an internationally performed composer, arranger, and orchestrator.  He is the owner of House of El Music (www.houseofelmusic.com) and regularly writes music for movies, tv, albums, and live performance as well as performing regularly in the DFW theater community.  He is the youngest of 5 children and uncle to 24 niblings and 6 grand niblings.  When not accompanying or writing music, Paul enjoys cooking, woodworking, hiking, or playing with his pet beagle, C.K., who he has trained to sit, stay, and roll over.  This is his biggest accomplishment.
